A report released today by the Australian Beverages Council Limited (ABCL) highlights the significant growth in the non-alcoholic beverages industry and the important role the industry plays in the Australian economy.

Across Australia, the industry contributes more than $14.6 billion to the economy and supports more than 68,000 jobs. The figures form part of a report prepared by ACIL Allen on behalf of the ABCL and draws upon data published by the ABS to estimate the economic contribution of the industry.

Beverages in the report include carbonated soft drinks, energy drinks, sports and electrolyte drinks, bottled and packaged waters, 100% juice and fruit drinks, cordials, iced teas, ready-to-drink coffees, kombuchas and flavoured milk products.

CEO of the ABCL Geoff Parker said the report demonstrates the resilience of non-alcoholic beverage manufacturers as they continue to keep Australian fridges stocked with our favourite drinks.

“Like many industries, ours is navigating a complex supply chain, evolving regulatory environment and sustained costs pressures. Despite this, our members have continued to invest in Australia and Australian jobs,” said Mr Parker.

“Across the country, our industry’s contribution has continued to grow as Australians continue to look for a broader range of beverage choices.”

The economic value is derived from the production and manufacturing of beverages, the distribution and supply of drinks and retailing of beverages.
