ESR30 Sustainability Education Program Expands to Alcohol Manufacturers
Friday, 6 August 2026
The Australian Beverages Council Limited (ABCL) is expanding its Environmental Sustainability Roadmap to ESR30 (ESR30) Educational Program, to alcohol manufacturers across Australia.
Originally developed to support non-alcoholic beverage companies, the program offers live virtual courses designed to help beverage manufacturers build practical sustainability knowledge and capability across their businesses. Current courses cover carbon footprint management, decarbonisation and net zero planning, energy and water efficiency, waste management, sustainable procurement and packaging.
The courses are tailored to the needs of manufacturing businesses and are suitable for internal teams such as operations, procurement, marketing and management. Training incorporates real-world examples, practical tools and manufacturing-specific content that participants can apply within their own facilities and business operations.
ABCL Sustainability Manager, Shannon Doherty-Andall, said the expansion will provide alcohol manufacturers, particularly small and medium-sized businesses, with greater access to practical and relevant sustainability education.
“Beverage manufacturers are facing growing expectations from customers, regulators and their supply chains, but many businesses do not have dedicated sustainability teams or the resources to develop this capability internally,” Ms Doherty-Andall said.
“ESR30 gives participants access to training that responds to the realities of beverage manufacturing. It is a great opportunity for businesses to strengthen their understanding, identify practical actions and build confidence as they progress their sustainability journeys.”
Ms Doherty-Andall said the expansion reflected the strong transferability of the program across the broader beverage manufacturing sector.
“While ESR30 was initially developed for non-alcoholic beverage companies, the operational challenges addressed through the courses are shared by many alcohol manufacturers. The expanded offering is intended to complement the valuable sustainability initiatives and resources already available across the alcohol sector.”
The program is delivered virtually, allowing businesses and employees from across Australia to participate.
