FSANZ Proposal P1055 Definitions for gene technology and new breeding techniques

The ABCL responded to FSANZ’s 1st Call for Submissions for Proposal P1055, which seeks to review the current definitions for gene technology and food produced using gene technology in the Food Standards Code.

The ABCL supported FSANZ’s proposed Option 3 – to amend the definitions in the Code, to capture the innovation of new breeding techniques within the broader food and beverage industry.
