Australian Dietary Guidelines

The Australian Beverages Council Limited (ABCL) supports balanced consumption of food and drinks for health and wellbeing.

The ABCL recognises the Australian Dietary Guidelines (ADG) provide evidence-based recommendations on the types and amounts of foods Australians should eat to meet nutritional requirements.

By following the dietary patterns recommended in the ADG, we will get enough of the nutrients essential for optimal health and wellbeing.

Non-alcoholic beverages can play a role in contributing to intakes of these nutrients, with the 2023  National Nutrition and Physical Activity Survey demonstrating the leading source of vitamin C intakes was from fruit and vegetable juices and drinks (29.8%), and for vitamin B6 was electrolyte, energy and fortified drinks (14.6%).
